SPIRITUAL PEOPLE FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS, COME JOIN US In our group... we read and seek to understand more fully the concepts portrayed in The Urantia Book (Urantia being another word for the Earth). The book is a collection of 196 papers that its authors say is a divine revelation to our planet. FUN Ladies between the ages of 25 - 40 living within 5 miles of Hoboken who enjoy curling up with a good book, good food, and good wine. There are 2 meetings per month to accomodate as many members as possible. There are no rules to the book club portion, it's just an open discussion about what we loved or didn't love about each book - so it won't be like an AP English Lit class by any means. Cooking themes are inspired by the book itself and everyone brings a bottle of wine to the hostess's h …

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss I've tried joining a few book clubs that were genre specific (chick lit), gender specific (chicks only), and author specific (Stephen King) but as none seemed to satisfy my palate, I thought I'd try to see if there were others like me, i.e. those who can equally enjoy the likes of Jane Austen, Stephen King, Shakespeare,Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz as well as nonfiction books (The …

Each meeting starts with a video or PDF presentation of the book's key concepts so you can learn everything you need to know just by attending the meeting. We'll discuss how we've applied the book's concepts to our businesses and then leave with an action plan to apply them starting immediately (if you don't use it, you lose it). Who Should Join Open to anyone who'd like to learn more strategies for improving their b …

Inspired by a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, about a long-running reading group in which the members read books aloud -- 35 or so pages a meeting -- they've read Dickens, Milton, Tolstoy, Faulkner, the Brontes, Eliot, Austen. In addition to the book we're reading (our first is The Transit of Venus), we've begun meetings by reading other short pieces or poems.
I decided to start the group because I cannot find a book club that assigns books that are more to my liking. So I am hoping to find other girls who will enjoy the type of books I love to read. I read both fiction and non fiction, but my main interest is stories that touch upon specific things: feminism, sexuality, mental health, etc. So join my group if you are looking to stay local in Brooklyn, like to drink and like to read.

We are a fun, sometimes serious, most times not so serious book club. We all enjoy reading (well of course we do) and have read some very good books and unfortunately a couple not so good books. Our discussions can last from five minutes to an hour and it really depends upon the book. We read primarily contemporary fiction, but we're open to anything. Some of ou …
